The Dawn of the Youkai

It had been a 10 years since the world had been flipped on its head, 10 years since the void had opened and altered what everyone knew and how everything worked. 10 years since demons reappeared into the realm of man, unhindered by natural law and centuries of hiding to survive. It was a world mixed within both the modern day and the past, and it was now home. The land itself had altered as well, some cities were ripped apart by vast mountain ranges, flood waters took over dry deserts, ancient villages once thought lost split up through the ground merging modern and past together. Of course that was just one of the many surprising things that happened, youkais who had been hiding away for centuries suddenly reveled themselves including one…. thought to had perished in a battle against a human general…. the great Inu No Taisho one if not the most powerful Daiyoukai known throughout history. On the day that the void opened, he showed up the disguise he had casted on himself to appear human had fallen away, it came to a shock to many including his two sons one who had seen him fall in battle and the other who had never known him as well as to his ‘daughter’ who he had with a human woman some years ago, but who had died when his third child was very young. With youkai’s as powerful as Inu No Taisho returning the balance of power also shifted, human governments no longer could rule with iron fists…laws and new documents had to be put in place.

The lands were divided as it was thousands of years ago, the youkai that had governed it had proven they still had rights to the very lands and that even with them being driven out…legally they still owned it in a sense. With quick movements just to settle the panic that it was just easier, it didn’t take long for the leading youkais to settle the demons and quill their blood lust and after 3 years’ life was just normal again…. well if you include demons walking around in regular cloths a few still wearing their traditional garb but…well this was now home. Many could still remember the day that the void opened, changing what they knew about the world, how many lost their lives while others simply lost control of themselves turning into the very demons that once were just myths and legends.

It had begun like any other day, the hustle and bustle of the city buzzing by in their cars, filling the subways packed with people, the thick smoke of the exhaust clouding up the skies. Centuries had passed since man once feared what lurked in the dark, and they had taken over the lands twisting it to their needs and survival. For two students this was life, this was their world as two girls walked down the sidewalk heading up towards their local school. One by the name of Hanako Takami the other Saorin Yoshida both of them were just the everyday students Saorin would turn to look over at her friend “You finish that essay for 4th period?” “Pfft, ya but it was stupid…why should we even care about the myths and legends of the past. They don’t have any meaning in today’s world…take my family for example because of something in the past we had to change our name from Taisho to Takami…. granted it was on my dad’s side…. we could go back to our real surname but because of a stupid incident that they claimed my great great great grandfather was some sort of demon.”

Hanako stated with a faint sigh as she shook her head, though as they headed into class things started to get strange. The sky began to darken as Hanako glanced upwards “um…it’s not supposed to rain today is it?” Hanako asked her friend, glancing over towards her friend as Saorin pulled out her phone checking the weather. “Nothing, is showing up on my phone…” “Ok then…. scattered storms?” she asked but as they kept walking, a few students were starting to act strange. It would almost feel like the very air was tainted till the sky suddenly split open unleashing a hoard of creatures that swarmed through it.

In a panic Hanako grabbed her friend as they would turn to run away, as students who had been acting strange began to change, their clothing ripping apart as their bodies morphed and altered. Eyes glowing red like blood driven creatures, any that got to close soon meet their fate as blood splattered across the walls and the ground. “Run! Move Saorin! Move!” Hanako yelled out in panic as everyone began to run and flee the area, as the whole city….no…the whole world began to change and become swarmed by whatever poured in through the strange opening in the sky.

Screams of panic echoed around them, mixing in with the roars and screeches of the creatures that came out of the sky. As Saorin and Hanako ran from the pit pouring of monsters, one broke from the pack and swooped down on them and others who were running in the same direction. It was something like a bat that was the size one of a car, with dozens of glowing yellow and massive sharp teeth. One flap of its wings sent a gust of wind that knocked the girls down as well as a few others. The group of down civilians turned up as the Bat turned round and swooped down on them again, this time choosing its prey. He landed just over a man in a business suit who began panicking as others got up to run away. "No! No! Nononono!" He screamed in horror as he tried to crawl away...but could not escape the creature claws and teeth. With a screech of victory, the monster lunged at the man and began to tear into the man. He let out blood curteling cries of pain as he was being eaten alive by the beast over him. His blood coating the ground and the dark fur around his killers maw. In his panic he had grabbed onto Saorins ankle and she cried out, both in horror with what was happening right there infront of her and trying to get free. She managed to shake it off and started to get to her feet, but not before gaining the ugly beasts attention as it let out another screech and lunges for the girls.

There was silver streak that flashed before them almost as if a shimmer before the bat like demon stumbled backwards a minute before stumbling backwards being split apart as a man wielding a large blackened sword with an orb on the end stood before them, his silver hair up in a high pony tail with armor around his breast and shoulders and a large white fluffy boa draped down his back "What madness has ensued to restore me back to full power from the pits of hell?"he said aloud seeing the chaos unfold around him as he slowly drew the sword that was draped across his back "Black Dragon Destruction Wave"he said gently, though from the tip of his blade a large etheral dragon made of pure destructive energy burst forth from the blade filling the sky as he swung his sword downwards as the dragon took action, claiming the souls of several demons in the area sending straight back into the pits of hell as he sheathed his sword looking back at the two girls behind him "Get to Sesshoumaru"he ordered before vanishing without a trace, having cleared a path for the girls to run safely through the streets with the dragon

Hanako turned when she heard the screams, it wasn’t one of those normal screams it almost was something out of a movie but before she knew it the swarm of monsters filled the skies. Bodies littered the streets, and blood painted the buildings it was like something out of a horror film she almost couldn’t believe what was happening before her eyes till they were suddenly before a giant bat creature. Its claws ripping a man apart still screaming for his life, it wasn’t till the demon turned its attention upon her and Saorin that her mind finally caught up to the surreal events that were unfolding before them. The creature growled deep in its throat before moving closer, claws dripping with warm blood as the man’s ripped apart body lay motionless behind it.

Her heart was racing and as it raised its claws to strike both girls down, that’s when the blur of silver swept passed them. The blast of a swords power as a large black dragon appeared high in the sky, her eyes wide in shock and she would then glance at the man before them. His silver hair sweeping around him, and she couldn’t help but stair even as he spoke. However, before she could speak he was gone and she turned to look at Saorin, “who’s sesshoumaru?” she asked quickly to her friend. Neither one of the girls understood what the man meant but he had saved them even as another explosion happened pushing the girls to move quickly in the now clear path. “whoever that man was, we at least should listen to him….find this…Sesshoumaru.”

"Wouldn't the police be wiser?" She asked frightened as they ran from the scene. Sirens and gun fire joined into the cacophony of noise and panic around them. Fires burst into life and added anthebheavy tang of smoke into the air that was already tainted with the scent of blood and fear. But as they ran in search of this Sesshoumaru, Saorin could see that humans and guns would not be enough to fight off what was happening around them.
Lighting flash and thunder rolled over head as the opening grew wider and more and more monsters came through. "How are we suppose to find this peroson?!" Saorin asked

Ahead of the girls as the path had been cleared before them, they came upon another scene. In another area of the city where the sky had been ripped asunder, a circle of demons surrounded another silver haired figure though as the demons all lunged for the man in the center, bits and pieces of blood, limb and guts went spewing everywhere as the man held up just two fingers as a whip of light had spun around him slicing the mob into chunks as the man's cool demeanor and golden gaze instantly transfixed onto the two girls approaching him as a familiar energy began to resonate from them as he quickly sped towards them claws extended though jumped passed them stabbing a demon who had been creeping up behind them and pinning him into the ground as he cracked beneath him as the poison from his claws evaporated the blood of the unworthy demon he had just slain as he turned to face them once more "You two are not safe here. Leave."he said shortly though didn't take his stoic gaze from the two of them "There is nothing but danger present."

Hanako glanced at her with a heavy sigh, “look around you Saorin…I don’t think police can help us with anything…. we are on our own let’s just find this…Sesshoumaru person if not get to the nearest building and barricade ourselves inside of it…” she stated quickly as they kept moving till they made it to the next clearing. Only to be watching as another blood bath went on, the lashing of the green whip moving through the air slicing apart bodies but when the creature rushed at them she yelped grabbing Saorin ready to put herself in between the two till the screech of the melting demon as she gasped before looking up at the man again. Shaking her head, she would speak “wait…a…. are you Sesshoumaru?! W…we were told to find you…by another…kind of looked like you just pony tail….”

This man before them was shocking and stunning all in one moment. He struck down the hoard around him in a single motion like the man before. 'Who are these people?' She wondered. "He...he only gave us your name...but he had silver hair lie...like yours.....a sword with a dark orb on it.....spiked armor...." she said trying to help and discribe the man who saved them

Sesshoumaru sighed *Leave it to that man to thrust his responsibilities unto me*he thought to himself looking down at the two girls "Get to the shrine"he told them in his same flat voice "The magic from the priestesses will protect you for now. I am not sure how you both are connected to myself, however I will not be responsible for your blood on my hands"he said shortly as his whip darted out cleaving another demon in two "There should be a priestess there with my brother Inuyasha and their children, she will be able to explain more to you"he said turning his back to them again "Go."

Saorin nodded and grabbed Hanakos arm and they ran for the shrine that was close by. The Higurashi shrine was one of the oldest shrines in the area, but was well maintained. They ran up the steps and saw a small boy with hair, traces of black through out his hair and two dog ears on his head and two yellow eyes. He turned and called over his shoulder, "Momma! More people!" He said before turning back to the girls as they ran up the stairs. A woman in a priestesses garb and black hair came running up, a bow in her hand and a quiver of arrows on her back. She gave a sigh of releof to see more survivors, but that quickly went away when she saw a larger demon spot them and head there way. "Get down!" she shouted and notched her bow. The girls ducked as she let the arrow fly. A pink trail was lit by the arrow as it found is Target and burned his body as he hit the ground. "Come on!" She shouted at them again and the girls scrambled up the remaining steps. "There....your safe now. She says d andnstung her bow over her shoulder.

Hanako would nod her head towards the man, watching as he cut down the demon rather quickly and she just turned with Saorin, there wasn't time to complain or ask just what was happening not with a hoard of demons were barreling down upon the world and everyone and everything was just in total chaos. As they raced up the stairs towards the shrine she would hear the screech of the demon over head, she turned back and yelled loudly pushing her friend forward "move! move!" she called loudly towards Saorin as they headed up the steps just as the women managed to let loss the arrow and ripped the demon apart as the girls made it to the top. "Kagome.....are you..." a man dressed in a red shirt and jeans came running over a strange sword at his side as his hair was a pure white and white dog ears on his head. "More survivors?" he stated as the young boy came running over. "papa momma killed that demon!! it was sooo cool....can I do that?" "maybe another time...head inside and help your uncle and grandmother" Hanako stood there shaking a bit as she slid to her knees, unable to stand at the moment "what....what is going on!" she said loudly.

It wasn't long before Sesshoumaru had battled his way through the demons, coming into contact with his father. Both of them looked battle-worn amd knew they couldnt continue fighting off this onslaught of youkai forever as Sesshoumaru motioned towards the portal "The first thing we need to do is seal that portal or it will be never ending. After that we can restore order. These youkai seem to forget whose jurisdiction they are under simply because we are in a different world." He said as his father nodded in agreement "You make a fair point Sesshoumaru....together then let us seal it" he said drawing his sword once more as Sesshoumaru drew Bakusaiga strapped to his waist. There was a serene silence for a moment before in the sky a large black dragon made of dark energy and a similar dragon made of lightning pierced the heavens heading straight into the portal which swelled with energy before erupting.and vanishing as quickly as it was tore asunder above, ending the flow of demons entering the lands...but also trapping the ones currently here indefinitely

"Look! It's closing!" Said one of the other survivors who had made it to the shrine for safety. Saorin sighed in relief and fell to her knees as all of her energy left her. "Thank god...." She muttered.
"Miss? You okay?" Asked the little boy. When Saorin looked up she suddenly noticed the boys full appearance. He had white hair and black streaks. Two fluffy looking dog ears on top of his hair and golden brown eyes. He also had what looked like a tiny gang poking out of the left corner of his mouth and fluffy curled tail that twitched as he looked on her in concern. "Miss?"
"Your not human...."
"Nope. I'm a hanyou like my Papa!" He said excitedly, "but momma says it's rude to evade someone's question you know.....and it's also rude to stair!"
"Heidoki...." said the woman who was his mother.
"No...he's right....I'm....okay. Thank you for your concerns."

Hanako watched the portal close above her, even as the wave of relief spread across the whole shrine something still felt off....like this was just the beginning. Her attention went over to Saorin who was knelt on the ground a strange child in front of her before a women wearing priestess garb was there talking to them. "Your welcome to stay here as long as you like, we've got plenty of space" the women said warmly. Soon though another joined them, a man with silver hair and Hanako blinked...he looked just like the other two, but he had dog ears on his head as he moved up to the women and soon picked up the boy. "Ah leave him be Kagome, hes' curious at least he's not as bad as Shippou was"

"Inuyasha" came a sharp voice from behind the group as the two silver haired men from before had entered the shrine silently though neither of them looked happy "Now isnt the time to be lax, there are still youkai out here killing amd destroying your city. We only managed to stop the flow of them coming in for now, but there is work to be done" the younger of the two men, the one known as Sesshoumaru, explained to his brother "You and your priestess wife need to see about cleaning up this mess"he said then turned to the other man "And you? How are you here? We both watched you die when Inuyasha was a child...have you been in hiding? Or did this portal spit out the pits of hell too? I see that sword is back in this realm once again"

"Hey we got sucked here just as you did!" He snapped at his brother and looked to their father with a mix of anger or uncertainty. "Kagome, take the others inside."
He said and she nodded. "Be careful." She said and took their sons hand and turned to the girls and the other survivors, "everyone please head inside the temple. I promise you will be safe here, evil spirits can't step onto the grounds" she said and usher them all inside.
Taisho, though stoic, was shocked in seeing his sons together....and Inuyasha was full grown and a father....he had missed so much. "I am uncertain as to how I came here. But explanations will have to wait. As you said, other demons have come here and are spreading chaos. Let us see if any allies have been brought here and save as many as we can."

Hanako was busy at the moment trying to get a hold of her father, but in the chaos even the telephone lines seemed to be down as each time she dialed all she got was static...it was near impossible to get anything out as the news feeds were down with it all. The world was literately upside down, but as she would hear two speaking she turned looking at the men from before. The one she ahd barely seen until now and everything almost seemed to spin around her, time seemed to almost slow down as people's voices blurred almost became muffled. All she could do was just stand there staring she knew this man.....but she didn't know how and the man in red seemed to refocus for a split second she knew him as well...

Nothing was making since in that split second, her hands going ot her head and in that moment a pulse rippled from her. At first almost unnoticeable...then a second as she could hear a voice 'be calm my child.....for you will be reborn....' "what?" she looked up her eyes focusing on the sky, as the moon would slowly appear from the smoke and clouds that filled the sky. 'Do not be afraid....you will understand in time.....know my knight is there for you now.....' came that voice again before soon a blinding light would wrap around Hanako's body as she yelled out in fear, she would go to run from it as her body seemed to almost...disappeared but instead of yelling out for her friend....she reached out towards the man that had come back from death and yelled "Taisho!" in that instint he would see....his late wife...Izayoi before Hanako disappeared in a blinding light of the moon.

Sesshoumaru paused hearing a yell as he noticed the moon had suddenly risen in the sky as one of the girls he had saved was reacting to it "What the hell is going on?" He saud looking over at the girl reaching for his father "Divine intervention?"

Taisho, upon hearing the scream, had turned suddenly. The sight was astounding, light reaching out from the moon toward the young girl he had sent to find his son, engulfing her. Her reaching out toward him and the sound of her voice.....oh his Izaiyois voice...
He sprinted forward and caught her just as the light faded and the scent that hit him he had not smelled in centuries, having wandered the underworld alone and her far from his reach where she was at peace in heaven. It was almost enough to knock him off his feet.

When the light faded nothing was left, the moon even had faded from the sky and Hanako was no longer in sight. What had become of the girl as Inuyasha stood there in stunned silence, his mother...it was impossible he had seen himself that she had died and he alone buried her beneath that tree so long ago. Watching as his father had raced to the girls aid but to no luck shocked him as Kagome, moved up to him "Inuyasha....what happened?" "I...I don't know....but my mother died years ago..." though his attention soon drifted to his brother. "divine intervention? what would a god want with a human girl?"

"What do gods want with any of us Inuyasha?"Sesshoumaru said cooly as he witnessed his father's attempt to grab the girl as he shook his head "I suppose it is no different as to why our world was ripped asunder and we were sent here. We are merely play things, pawns for whatever activities they wish to do in the celestial garden above us."he stated noticing the chaos, at least in their immediate area, was beginning to die down as demons became aware of his presence once again "Even a shrine isn't protected from this madness"he commented "I suggest we get inside, I smell large machinery coming our way with a menacing bloodlust."he stated "The portal was closed, the rest will sort itself out."

"Hanako?" Saorin calledband looked around for a moment, but so no trace of her friend. "Wh...where is she? Where is Hanako?!" She shouted and looked around again. "Hanako!" She shouted as tears streamed down her face.
"Hanako!"

"Hanako...Hanako? Wake up child...." said a soft and sweet melodic voice

Kagome would glance at Inuyasha and would then look at Sesshoumaru, she trusted the older youkai and what he knew but her eyes went to the other. He was still staring at the spot the other girl vanished and but before she could act the man moved over towards Saorin who gently placed his hand on her shoulder. "she is safe, the gods would not have summoned her without reason....for now we should head inside" he stated trying to confort her knowing she was afraid. Kagome couldn't help but smile faintly watching and she would understand then just how her own husband held a gentle heart even beneath the rough exterior.

Hanako would groan softly as she laid there, her head felt like it had been hit with a bat and she began to push herself up wincing some. "he....hello...." she said softly responding to the voice calling to her. "is...is someone there.." her hand raised up as she held her head some, her black hair falling around her shoulders and she looked at it. "I need a hair cut..." she muttered softly.

Sesshoumaru paused as he was heading inside as he stopped looking back at the two women "What is that familiar feeling?"he said taking in a deep breath "And that smell?"he commented as he turned facing the two women "Inu youkai? How? What did those Gods do now?"he asked himself as his eyes met his father's in a knowing glance as the older youkai smiled down at the two girls "Oh there are a lot of changes you two will be going through. Allow us to explain over tea."Taishou said as they moved inside "Inuyasha, get us some tea please"

"Will....will they send her back?" She asked, "is she dead?  What if the May wasn't them summoning her and she's actually dead?!"Saorin said in a panic as she was shakingly ushered inside and sat down.
